E14 Cabochon Base and Cap Set for Amusement Ride Repairs & Fairground Lighting

The complete light housing for fairground displays, illuminated letters, and ride repairs — also available in a variety of colours.

This E14 cabochon cap and base set is the two-part plastic housing that forms every individual light point on a fairground display, light-up letter, illuminated sign, or amusement ride border. The conic base mounts into your letter panel or ride fascia and holds the E14 LED bulb securely via a small Edison screw thread. The domed cap clips over the assembled base and bulb, creating the instantly recognisable fairground profile — that bold, jewel-like light point used on everything from wedding marquee letters to waltzer cars, ghost trains and carousel borders.

Sold as one matched pair — one base and one cap — ready to combine with an E14 LED bulb for a complete, functional light point. No minimum order. Buy one or five hundred.

These are the same components used in our own professional letter fleet, used at weddings, venue installations and corporate events across the UK — so we know exactly what they're capable of and how they hold up under repeated use.

What it's used for: Light-up letter and number builds for weddings, parties, corporate events, and venue installations; fairground-style marquee signage and illuminated shopfronts; amusement park rides and fairground attractions — including waltzers, carousels, ghost trains, dodgem arenas, big wheels, and ride canopy fascias; travelling fair equipment; film, TV and theatre set dressing; retail window displays and exhibition stands; hospitality venue feature lighting. If you see the classic domed fairground bulb anywhere — in a production, at a venue, on a ride — this cap and base set is the housing creating that effect.

No minimum order. Trade quantities available. Unlike some suppliers, we don't require a minimum order — buy exactly what you need. For larger trade orders of 50, 100 or 500+ units, contact us directly for a trade price. We supply event hire companies, sign makers, amusement park operators, ride maintenance engineers, prop makers and set designers across the UK.

Compatibility: E14 fitting only — not compatible with E10 (40mm) fittings. Requires a separately purchased E14 LED bulb to function. Compatible with 24V DC and 240V AC E14 bulbs. See our Full Light Set (cap + base + bulb) for the complete assembly in one product.

FAQs

Are these suitable for funfair and travelling fairground equipment?

Yes. Our E14 bases are built for the robust, repeat-use demands of the events and fairground industry — not lightweight decorative products. They're the same bases we use in our own professional letter fleet, which gets loaded, transported, set up and taken down repeatedly across the year. For travelling fairs and seasonal operators who need reliable replacement parts quickly, we offer next-day UK delivery on certain components.

What's the difference between E10 and E14 bases?

E10 and E14 refer to the diameter of the Edison screw fitting — 10mm and 14mm respectively. E14 is the larger of the two and is used in bigger letters (typically 80cm tall or more) where a 60mm cabochon cap is fitted. E10 is used in smaller letters with 40mm caps.

How many bases do I need for a light-up letter?

It depends on the letter size and bulb spacing. A typical 4ft letter can use approximately 6 - 14 light points. We recommend measuring your letter's perimeter and spacing bulbs every 4–6cm for a full, even glow.

Can I use this base with a 240V bulb?

Yes. This base is compatible with both 24V and 240V E14 bulbs. If you're running a 240V setup, ensure your wiring and power supply are rated accordingly.

Do you sell the bulb and cap separately?

Yes — we sell E14 LED bulbs, coloured cabochon caps, and a Full Light Set (base + bulb + cap) as a complete assembly. See our components collection for all options.

Can I use E14 cabochon bases as amusement ride spare parts?

Yes. E14 cabochon bases are standard components across a huge range of fairground and amusement park rides. They are used on ride canopies, ticket booth fascias, carousel borders, waltzer cars, ghost trains, big wheels, dodgem arenas, and fun house entrances — anywhere that classic fairground bulb lighting is fitted. If you're replacing worn, cracked or missing bases on a ride, our E14 clear bases are direct replacements for the standard 60mm fitting used across most traditional fairground equipment. We stock year-round and can fulfil trade quantities — contact us if you need a bulk order.

Do you sell replacement parts for fairground rides and amusement equipment in bulk?

Yes. While our website is set up for individual and small-quantity orders, we regularly supply trade customers — including event hire companies, sign makers, amusement park operators and ride maintenance engineers — with larger quantities of components. If you need 50, 100 or 500+ bases, contact us directly for a trade price. We can also advise on compatible bulbs, caps and wiring components for your specific installation.

Do you ship E14 bases outside the UK?

Yes — we ship to Europe and internationally. UK orders qualify for next-day delivery. For international shipping rates and timescales, add your items to the cart and use the shipping calculator at checkout, or contact us directly for large trade orders.
